In 1950, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the 10th of December as Human Rights Day so that oganisations and Member States could observe, protect and promote the Universal Declaration adopted in 1948. This year’s theme is '20 years Working for Your Rights', as it is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the mandate of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Read more...

In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the 5 December as International Volunteer Day, encouraging member states to adopt measures to raise awareness about the important contribution of volunteers, and in doing so, encourage more people to offer their services in a selfless way, and contribute to the Millennium Development Goals. In 1992, the United Nations General Assembly marked the 3rd of December as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to promote awareness and mobilize support on critical issues pertaining to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society and development, and to ensure equal opportunities for them. World AIDS Day has become one of the most recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have passed on, and celebrate victories, such as a 33% decrease in new infections since 2001. A professional from Diagrama, expert in logistics, has accompanied the 25 volunteers from this Spanish charity on a 12-day trip, between October and November, in Bengbis, one of the poorest areas in the country, where 600 people have been assisted. A camp hospital was settled in the zone where the surgeries and consultations were accomplished by seven surgeons, four anaesthetists, an otolaryngologist, a pediatrist, a maxillofacial surgeon, seven nurses, a radiologist, a general doctor, a physiotherapist, a translator and Diagrama’s responsible of logistics. In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly established the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated on the 25th of November. This day is aimed at urging governments, international organizations and charities to organize activities that are directed towards raising awareness amongts public opinion on this day to address the issue of violence against women, as well as possible solutions. On the 24th and 25th of October, the core partners of the EASE project got together in Nice to begin work on the 2-year project which is partly funded by the "Transfer of Innovation” programme and is part of the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme.
