Residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama’s home for adults with learning disabilities, have been enjoying a holiday at Butlins in Bognor Regis.
Staff accompanied residents around the holiday park to ensure they made the most of everything Butlins had to offer.
Support worker Aaron Milliken said “They spent time on the amusements and arcades, shooting Zombies, throwing and bouncing balls through hoops and pins, winning tickets and prizes – they even won a penny jar for the office!
“They zipped, dodged and dived their way through theme park rides. Many enjoyed these so much that they rode them, two, three, four… times. Safe to say, they got their money’s worth!
Residents were also able to wear themselves out enjoying the fun pool, boring down the water rapids, navigating the wave machine and getting drenched by fountains in the process. All in time to enjoy some respite over a hot drink and doughnut or generous selection of tasty treats at meal times.
In the evenings residents were entertained with a variety of different performances. Everyone was up dancing with some even choosing to stay for a boogie beyond the bouncer’s bedtimes!
Waking up fresh from the evenings’ exertions day time activities included building rock castles (Mounds!) on the beach and watched the tide turn over finished off with tasty fish and chips and a lavish helping of ice cream.
When it came time to leave, everyone packed with reluctance. Their faces a mixture of glum and glee, but it was with a smile that they asked “When do we come next year?”
Michelle Dyne, residential manager said: “Butlins is such a great place for our residents to enjoy – there are so many different experiences for them to enjoy there, no matter what each person likes to do – there’s always something to suit everyone.
“All the residents look forward to their holiday – a change of scenery and wide range of activities is a great stimulation for them and gives them all magical memories to take away and talk about for many months to come.”
