Diagrama Foundation has teamed up with support group New Family Social to offer dedicated services for prospective parents, foster carers and adopters from the LGBT community.
People interested in adoption and fostering through Diagrama are now able to access New Family Social’s membership services for free – this entitles them to benefit from additional support, a dedicated helpline, networking events throughout the year and access to online forums.
Catherine Moore, fostering manager for Diagrama Foundation said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our adopters and foster carers free membership with New Family Social – we know they are an invaluable source of encouragement and support and we look forward to working with them to encourage more people from the LGBT community to consider fostering and adoption.”
With almost 70,000 ‘looked after’ children in the UK, there is a desperate need to find secure and loving homes on both a short term and permanent basis.
Diagrama strives to find homes for harder to place children – those usually left waiting the longest. They may be considered older children (aged 4+ for adoption and 10+ for fostering), have a disability, have ethnic background or be part of a sibling group.
Diagrama Foundation is urgently seeking new adopters and foster carers and has two upcoming information events planned for LGBT Adoption and Fostering week, which runs from March 7-13, 2016.
March 8: Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, BN1 1YD - from 6.30-8pm
March 10: Diagrama Offices, 49 Russell Hill Road, Purley, Surrey, CR8 2LD - from 6.30-8pm
As well as offering foster carers a comprehensive support and expenses package, Diagrama’s adopters and foster carers all receive FREE access to a range of therapeutic services and training to help families adjust and navigate any challenges. This is in addition to NFS membership and benefits.
