Edensor Care Home first in Tendring to be awarded ‘Working Towards Dementia Friendly Status’

19 Nov 2020

We are extremely proud to announce that Edensor has been awarded ‘Working Towards Dementia Friendly Status’ by Tendring Dementia Action Alliance. In addition to this we are the first home in Tendring to receive this status which is such a great achievement.

Dementia Action Alliance brings together organisations across England to connect, share best practice and take action on dementia. They work in partnership to help those living with dementia, and those that care for them. The dementia-friendly programme they run encourages everyone to share responsibility for ensuring that people with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community.

Edensor, Diagrama’s home for elderly nursing and dementia care in Clacton-on-Sea, worked hard to achieve this status as the process involved completing an in depth action plan, accessing the environment the residents live in and also several staff training sessions.

Edensor home manager Muhammed Neeliyath said: We are delighted about being the first care home in Tendring to receive this status, it shows Edensor’s commitment to take action and support those with dementia in our community has been recognised. We now need to continue our work with the Dementia Action Alliance members to achieve the goals we have set and ensure we truly support our residents.”

Edensor’s Deputy Manager, Lindsey Milliken was delighted to receive Diagrama's certificate from Christine Horn at Dementia Action Alliance. If you would like to find out more about Dementia Action Alliance click here.
