Residents at Edensor Care Centre have enjoyed a day out at the beach assisted by a team of care staff.

Staff at the home in Orwell Road, Clacton-on-Sea, hired a beach hut from Tendring Community Centre to allow residents to enjoy the sunshine and the seaside.

Cherry Cook, activities co-ordinator said: “Our home is situated right on top of the beach and we heard that Tendring District Council hires out a beach hut for the elderly and people with learning disabilities.

“Luckily they had some availability and we thought that this would be a brilliant way for some of our residents to have the opportunity to enjoy a day in the sunshine and to get out into the community.”

The small team of staff took three residents to the beach hut where they were helped to take a stroll along the sand, a paddle in the sea and enjoy an afternoon outdoors followed by fish and chips followed by an ice cream.

Cherry added: “Everyone said they had a lovely day out – our residents slept very well due to all that sea air!”
