Diagrama activity co-ordinator Taryna Ansell has been highly commended by judges at the Great British Care Awards who have singled her out for being 'caring through and through'.
The awards, which celebrate excellence in the care sector across the UK, pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
Taryna, who works at Edensor Care Centre, Diagrama’s home for elderly nursing and dementia care in Clacton-on-Sea, was nominated for the Activity Co-ordinator category, recognising individuals who demonstrate they can provide a ‘needs led’, varied and appropriate programme for care home residents. Contenders had to demonstrate exceptional skill, creativity and responsibility in arranging activities.
Taryna received the commendation at the finals of the East of England region on October 24, in Peterborough. In their commendation the judges said: "Taryna is caring through and through. She goes above and beyond to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents. An absolute asset to the sector!"
Edensor residential manager Muhammed Neeliyath said: “Taryna works really hard to ensure our residents enjoy as full a life as possible. She has designed individualised activity programmes, always tailored to the resident’s own needs. She ensures everyone’s lives are as fulfilled lives as possible, no matter what their capabilities - and makes sure that those less mobile or bed bound are not left out from everything going on.
“She is very creative and has developed lots of her own activities and experiences such as aromatherapy and sensory reminiscence baskets and has organised lots of visits from community groups."
“She has also linked up Edensor with our local school, who now visit weekly, and has involved residents with many activities within the community as well as running events in the home to bring the community in. She makes a huge difference to the lives of our residents every day.”
David McGuire, Diagrama Foundation CEO, said: “Taryna has a natural talent of engaging and captivating the interest of the residents. We are so proud of Taryna being part of the Diagrama team and we wish her the best of luck in winning this prestigious award.”
Taryna said: “I am absolutely honoured to have received a high commendation. I really do love my job and making all the residents smile and enjoy the activities is the most rewarding aspect of my role.”
