Diagrama Foundation is supporting a new adoption recruitment drive
A campaign to find more adopters for siblings has been launched this week after research revealed 59% of the children in the South East waiting for adoptive families are brothers and sisters in groups of two or more.According to new information published to mark National Adoption Week (16-22nd October) figures from national adoption information service, First4Adoption, based on the latest government information*, show that sibling groups wait longer than single children to be placed with a “forever family”.  Read more...

Staff, residents and their families enjoy the summer fete at Edensor Care Centre
Staff at Edensor Care Centre pulled out all the stops to give residents a summer’s day to remember when the Clacton airshow came to town recently.The annual airshow, which attracts thousands of visitors from across the region provided the perfect back drop for Edensor’s Summer Fete.As many residents are physically unable to leave the home, manager Alison Brown, deputy manager Muhammed Neeliyath, training champion Vikki Whale and activities co-ordinator Cherry Cook rallied their team to bring the festival feeling to Edensor. Edensor Care Centre residents enjoy a day at the beach hut
Residents at Edensor Care Centre have enjoyed a day out at the beach assisted by a team of care staff.Staff at the home in Orwell Road, Clacton-on-Sea, hired a beach hut from Tendring Community Centre to allow residents to enjoy the sunshine and the seaside.Cherry Cook, activities co-ordinator said: “Our home is situated right on top of the beach and we heard that Tendring District Council hires out a beach hut for the elderly and people with learning disabilities. Diagrama Foundation: Edensor Care Centre staff take part in the sack race
Staff at Edensor have been put through their paces in a team-building sports day event – on the beach!With 23 staff from Diagrama’s care centre for the elderly taking part in the fun day at Holland-on-Sea, the day provided an opportunity for the nurses, care staff and managers to have fun as a team and also raise some money for activities for residents. Chicks hatched at Diagrama's Cabrini House home for adults with learning disabilities
Residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama’s home for adults with learning disabilities have been honing their animal husbandry skills with the arrival of several new visitors.Earlier this summer the home took a special delivery of eggs – which were placed in a special incubator in a cage. The following morning the first chick hatched, watched by some of the residents.Residential manager Michelle Dyne said: “Residents were excited and enthralled at watching the new life emerge. On Tuesday, Peter Clarke, Her Majesty’s Inspector of Prisons, published his annual report for 2016-17. In it, he says ‘by February this year we had reached the conclusion that there was not a single establishment that we inspected in England and Wales in which it was safe to hold children and young people’. ‘How old were you when you were adopted?’ sparked a riot of responses to one child’s question at Diagrama’s recent adoption support group for children.Spirits were sky high, as were feet, arms and legs, when 11 hot and happy young people enjoyed an hour, “flipping out” at a trampoline park in Southampton on June 24.Ranging in age from 11 to 17 years, friendships were formed playing trampoline volley ball, or just by being nearby when your fellow jumper needed a hand to scramble up a climbing wall... or out of a deep sponge pit! Diagrama Chief Executive David McGuire met with the board of governors at Walden School today following Diagrama's work there over the past few days. The purpose of Diagrama attending the school this week has been to undertake preliminary due diligence, which included meeting with staff and parents in an effort to ascertain the likely numbers of teachers and pupils willing to return to the school in September. Diagrama attempted to meet with senior managers although a number of them refused the request. Read more...
