The residents of the charity run Edensor Care Home in Clacton have been paying tribute to Her Majesty the Queen and celebrating her life.
As the country, the Commonwealth and the world came together to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, residents and staff at Diagrama Foundation’s Edensor Care Home in Clacton on Sea have been commemorating her life.
In the days leading up to the funeral the care home residents were busy making a huge heart from pictures of The Queen as the centre piece for a poignant display in their sitting room and writing tributes to place with the thousands of others that have been placed at landmarks across London.
Mo Neeliyath, Registered Manager, Edensor Care Centre, said, ”Everyone at Edensor has been deeply touched by the death of The Queen and although there has been much sadness and reflection, it has been so rewarding to see how the residents and staff have come together to celebrate her life. The residents tributes were taken to London by Andy Grint, nephew of one of our residents, who placed them at the bottom of a beautiful tree in The Mall. The residents were also delighted to learn that as Andy sat reflecting on the scene on The Mall, visitors were taking time to read what they had written.”
Joining the estimated TV audience of over four billion, the residents at Edensor asked if they could have their meals and refreshments in the sitting room during the funeral, so that they didn’t miss a minute of the TV coverage. There were many discussions about the Queen’s reign and some of the residents also shared memories of the Queen’s father King George VI and compared the beautiful pageantry of both funerals and discussed what a good King they thought Charles III would be.
David McGuire, Chief Executive, Diagrama Foundation said, “The Queen’s selfless devotion throughout her seventy years on the throne was an inspiration to us all and she will be remembered with great fondness. The thoughts and prayers of the Diagrama Foundation family are with His Majesty Charles III and the Royal Family at this time.”
