Staff at Edensor Care Centre pulled out all the stops to give residents a summer’s day to remember when the Clacton airshow came to town recently.

The annual airshow, which attracts thousands of visitors from across the region provided the perfect back drop for Edensor’s Summer Fete.

As many residents are physically unable to leave the home, manager Alison Brown, deputy manager Muhammed Neeliyath, training champion Vikki Whale and activities co-ordinator Cherry Cook rallied their team to bring the festival feeling to Edensor.

The on-site chefs prepared a bbq feast for residents, staff, family and friends and this year included summer fete-style stalls to bring a party spirit to the event.

The stalls included traditional favourites such as Hook the Duck; Lucky Straws; Name the Bear and Hook a hoop. The event also helped to raise £130 for the residents’ activity fund – with a significant amount spent on one stall in particular.

Vikki explained: “The wet sponge stall was a winner with everyone – with plenty of pennies spent throwing the wet sponges at staff which brought many laughs and big smiling faces from our residents and family members.”

Alison added: “Residents and staff had a brilliant day at Edensor....the sun was shining and it was great to see everyone join in with events. Many laughs were shared. The BBQ food was amazing and all the residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed it.

“The air show was brilliant too – providing a fantastic spectacle for everyone to enjoy – even those who couldn’t make it to the seafront had a bird’s eye view from the balcony.

“Members of the public also stopped by to enter the raffle and see our residents enjoy their day.”
