Edensor care home residents recently enjoyed a taste of delicacies from around the world in a national food day held in celebration of Nutrition and Hydration week.

Staff bought in dishes that related to their nationalities and delighted residents, colleagues and family members with cuisine from Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Romania, Malta, India, Bulgaria and Poland.  

The Nutrition and Hydration week, held in March every year, is a global challenge that aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.

Muhammed Neeliyath, deputy residential manager at Diagrama’s Clacton-on-Sea care centre said staff put their heart and soul into the event, preparing food in their own time to enable residents, their relatives and other professionals to treat their taste buds to flavours and foods they may not have previously experienced.

Muhammed explained “Residents and staff enjoyed the food. Everyone took part in tasting each dish – they were really adventurous and many residents were surprised by how much of it they liked. There was a great atmosphere in the home throughout the afternoon.”

The event helped to demonstrate Diagrama’s commitment to supporting improvements in nutrition and hydration for the residents at Edensor. It has now been established as a national event at Edensor.
