Edensor Care Centre transformed into a spooky haunted house this week with fun and games for residents to mark Halloween.
Staff and volunteers joined in the activities playing moody music, classic horror films and setting spooky surprises over two days.
Activities co-ordinator Cherry Cook held a pumpkin decorating competition at Diagrama’s Clacton-on-Sea nursing home for the elderly, as well as organising Halloween bingo, a themed word search and a ‘Wrap the Mummy’ game with staff.
Cherry said: “Residents have had a great time getting involved with all the different activities – there has been something to interest everyone and help everyone feel a part of the event.
“We made sure we didn’t do anything too frightening and there were plenty of laughs watching the staff become mummies!
Residents were then given the chance to relax and wind down after all of the excitement with an aromatherapy hand massage using Frankincense essential oil to take away the anxiety of fright!
Residential manager Alison Brown added: “All the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves day with everything going on. It has been a great way to get everyone involved and engaged. We had films on through the day including Hocus Pocus and the Addams family and a few family members also joined us to help decorate the pumpkins and finish off the spooky cakes and cauldron made tea.”
