Fostering and adoption celebrate with children’s New Year parties

20 Jan 2017

Families connected with Diagrama Foundation’s Foster Care and Adoption services have been seeing the new year in with style at the first of two children’s parties.

The parties offer foster and adoption families the chance to get together and celebrate the new year with one another, gaining peer support from each other and building friendships.

Ka-pow! Disco’s DJ took to the stage at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, in Winchester to entertain the children, which offered a way to help them build social skills in a relaxed environment. Meanwhile the adults also had the chance to chat with Diagrama staff and share their own experiences with other foster carers and adopters.

Diagrama’s social workers were able to speak with adopters and foster carers about any potential support needs they have and how to put that in action.

Diagrama’s chief executive David McGuire met with families at the party and said: “It was great to see so many of the children we work with having fun. The New Year parties are an important feature of Diagrama’s calendar – not only do they give children and their parents/carers the opportunity to gain support, but for some children this may be their first experience of this kind.”

The second of the two parties will be held in London this Saturday, January 21.
