'Welcome Home' - available to stream NOW!

29 Nov 2024

We were delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Ashford Sings! Community Choir to record the song 'Welcome Home.' Now available online (wherever you stream your music), it sends an important message about the urgent need for more foster carers to provide children with safe and secure homes.

The Ashford Sings! choir is run by Diagrama Foundation foster carers Nic and Chris Kimmance. They were so concerned about the lack of foster carers throughout the country that Chris put pen to paper to write the lyrics and music for a Christmas single.

The song 'Welcome Home' tells the story of a child who hasn't had a good experience of Christmas and wants someone to take them home, and their wishes are answered when they get a new family. It has been released today - 29th November 2024, in time for Christmas.

Chris Kimmance, Diagrama Foster Carer and choir leader of Ashford Sings! said, “My wife Nic and I have been fostering with the not-for-profit Diagrama agency for four years. We know the incredible rewards of fostering for not only our own birth family but for the children we have fostered. There are too many children waiting for foster homes and I hope that Welcome Home will encourage more people to consider fostering.”

Margaret Gardiner, Fostering and Adoption Team Manager, Diagrama Foundation said, “We are so thankful to Nic and Chris Kimmance for helping promote the need for more foster carers. Every day 100 children enter the care system and there are simply not enough carers to give these children safe and secure foster home. We hope that the single will raise awareness about the fostering crisis and we will receive lots of enquiries from people who are moved to foster. A Christmas number one would be nice too!”

Just like parents, foster carers can be any gender or religion, married, single, retired, working full or part time, own their home or live in rented accommodation. You don’t have to have children of your own or commit to long term fostering, as carers are also needed to provide short term care for a few weeks or months at a time.

Download the song from Spotify, Amazon or Apple Music. All proceeds from the single will be donated to Diagrama.
