Diagrama Foundation is meeting with staff and parents at Walden School next week to discuss plans to save the school from closure at the end of term.Governors at Walden School, in Saffron Walden, Essex announced in May plans to close the school at the end of the summer term. Following discussions with interested parties, The Board of Governors have now agreed in principle for Diagrama Foundation to take over the existing school and keep it open for existing and new pupils in September 2017. Diagrama Foundation has forged a new partnership to tackle the shortage of adopters and foster carers who can provide vulnerable children in care with a safe and secure home of their own. Diagrama’s adoption and fostering service has been working with the Diocese of Rochester and Home for Good to develop a new initiative to encourage more people to consider adoption and fostering across Kent and Medway. Diagrama Foundation is working with a group of influential organisations across the UK in a bid to keep young people out of prison and to ensure those who do offend and are sent to prison, never go back.The Monument Fellowship, formed as a legacy to the Monument Trust, has brought together the organisations to collaborate for several years on each stage of the journey that an offender experiences in the criminal justice system - from arrest, through prosecution and sentencing in court, in prisons and YOIs and on release. Cabrini House residential support worker Aaron Milliken is the first of four members of staff to successfully complete the new Care Certificate. Aaron was presented with his certificate by residential manager Michelle Dyne earlier this month.The Care Certificate was introduced in 2015 in response to the 2013 Cavendish Review which found the training and development of healthcare assistants and adult social care workers was often not consistent or sufficient. Edensor Care Centre resident Sue Bartholomey has celebrated her 100th birthday with a party attended by friends and family.Staff at Diagrama Foundation’s Essex care home arranged for local singer Tessa Collitt to surprise Sue with a performance of her favourite old time songs in the main lounge. Cabrini House has won praise from the Care Quality Commission after inspectors recently rated the renovated home number 2 as providing a ‘GOOD’ service.Cabrini House is Diagrama Foundation’s home for adults with learning disabilities, based in Orpington. It comprises three separate homes managed by one staff team who provide residential care and day activities for adults who have a range of special needs.The inspection, carried out last month, examined all aspects of care in the home, from safety and effectiveness to care and management.
