A fact-finding day trip to Belgium has inspired staff and opened up new opportunities for residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama Foundation’s home for adults with learning disabilities.Earlier this month, a team of four staff visited the facilities of Group Ubuntu, a not-for-profit network organisation supporting people with disabilities, in South-West-Flanders.Cabrini’s team, led by Diagrama Foundation trustee Maureen Walby, gained an insight into how Group Ubuntu supports people with disabilities to find a meaningful role in society. Residents at Cabrini House home for adults with learning disabilities and children adopted through Diagrama have been putting their artistic talents to good use by helping to design Diagrama’s 2016 greetings cards. Diagrama held a competition earlier this year open to children, young people and adults that the charity works with to help design a selection of greetings cards. The overall winner, 10-year-old Pixie, showed off her talents as a promising lino print artist, by carving out a spectacular festive tree scene, printed in blue. Read more...

Diagrama Foundation has launched a new residential service for young people aged 16 to 24 who are unable to live independently. The home, which offers accommodation for five young people plus a separate annexe for a sixth resident, is aimed at supporting young people leaving care to make the safe transition into independence. Diagrama Foundation has been welcoming prospective adopters and foster carers to its new offices at a former airport in Croydon.The UK charity, which supports vulnerable children and adults, recently moved its adoption and fostering services into Airport House, on Purley Way, Croydon. Diagrama is now planning to hold regular information evenings and training sessions for people interested in fostering or adopting a child in care. Read more...
