Rodney Appleyard, Development Manager and Stephanie Grant, Administrator from grant making trust and charity Colchester Catalyst, visited Edensor this week to present a cheque for £15,000 to fund our ‘End of Life’ Project. The vital funding will allow Edensor to have a special sensory cabin built in the beautiful gardens of their care home to give residents and their families a private, quiet and calming area where they can spend precious time together in their final days. James and Simon are united not only by their friendship, and both being residents of Duckyls Farm, but also their diagnosis of Fragile X Syndrome in childhood. Whilst the genetic condition affects boys and girls, boys are often more severely affected. It can cause a range of issues with language, emotions, attention behaviour and social interaction. Common behavioural features of Fragile X include short attention span, distractibility, impulsiveness, restlessness, over activity and sensory problems. Read more...
