Diagrama is joining forces with adoption agencies across the UK to raise awareness of the need for adopters to come forward. New research shows that the South East has more than 2 times as many children awaiting adoptive families as there are adopters. The figures, from the national adoption information service, First4Adoption, reveal the region currently has 580 children waiting to be adopted and just 250 families approved to adopt.   Read more...

Montessori expert Anne Kelly delivers training in person-centred care to Diagrama's team
One of the world’s leading Montessori experts Anne Kelly has been helping care home staff at Diagrama set the vision to become leaders in person-centred practice.   More than 40 staff from Diagrama’s residential services completed two days’ training in delivering the Montessori approach in a care home setting.   Read more...

Diagrama Foundation Cabrini House Summer Fayre
Last week saw residents at Cabrini House, our home for adults with learning disabilities, organise their first ever Summer Fayre to raise money for new equipment at their home. Guests enjoying the summer picnic
This month saw 50 Diagrama adopters and children, and potential adopters join together for a fun filled afternoon. The weather was beautiful and everyone brought food to share for a picnic. The annual picnic in Purley, gives families the opportunity to spend time together, make new friends and keep in touch, offering helpful advice and encouragement to one another. Read more...

Diagrama Foundation hosts the Inside Out Exhibition launch
The artistic achievements of adults with learning disabilities, young people in conflict with the law, isolated elderly and women who have suffered domestic abuse have been celebrated at an art exhibition hosted by Diagrama Foundation during Learning Disability week. More than 50 artworks were on display at the INSIDE OUT exhibition, held at the Rochester Cathedral Crypt cafe and at The Halpern Conservancy Board Building, from June 13 to 20. Read more...

Rochester Cathedral
The Rt Revd James Langstaff, Bishop of Rochester, will host a celebration of fostering and adoption at Rochester Cathedral on 29 June, 11.00am. The special child-friendly service will celebrate the dedication and love shown by fostering and adoptive families and those considering it for the future and demonstrate to fostered and adopted children how welcome they are in our community. Diagrama Foundation is staging an inclusive art exhibition displaying works by vulnerable artists at Rochester Cathedral next month, in partnership with organisations from across Europe. The exhibition, entitled Inside Out, marks the culmination of a two-year Erasmus+ funded multi-national project which aims to empower vulnerable people. Read more...

residents are cabrini house training artistic skills
Residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama’s home for adults with learning disabilities in Orpington received some professional art classes recently when artist Maria Whatling joined us for several sessions - and the results were truly impressive. Maria is an art teacher at a Medway School and she spent her time at Cabrini House working with several groups of residents trying out a wide variety of simple but effective techniques to achieve different effects with paint, drawing and sculpture. She also provided some inspirational new ideas for our staff to try out in the future. Read more...
